Nearly one million people in the UK live with dementia. Many require daily support, yet full-time private care is financially out of reach for most families.
The Alzheimer's Society needed a way to demonstrate how technology could provide meaningful assistance while raising awareness of the charity's work in a practical, everyday way.
Insight
For people living with dementia, routine is stability. Small prompts, reminders and reassurance can make the difference between independence and dependence.
If Alexa could become more than a smart speaker and function as a supportive presence, technology could extend independence rather than replace human care.
Outcome
MyCarer won 15 major industry awards including multiple Cannes Lions, as well as recognition from CLIO, LIAs, The One Show and Epica.
The project positioned the Alzheimer's Society as a leader in practical innovation and helped establish McCann as Amazon Alexa's Voice Centre of Excellence.
